Private Flute and Piccolo Lessons

The NewArt School offers private flute, piccolo, and recorder lessons for children and adults. Sarah Haymore will provide instruction. Students of all abilities are welcome. Children under 7 who are interested in playing the flute will start lessons on the recorder. Lessons are available in 30 minute, 45 minute or 1 hour sessions. All classes will be offered at the NewArt School's main location in the Newton-Conover Civic and Performance Place, 60 W. 6th Street in Newton.

 

Flutist, Sarah Haymore attended the North Carolina School of the Arts where she earned a Bachelors of Music in Flute Performance. While at the NC School of the Arts, Sarah was a student of Philip Dunigan and Tadeu Coelho. She has performed in master classes with such artists as Ransom Wilson, professor of flute at Yale University; Walfrid Kujala former principal piccolo of the Chicago Symphony and professor of flute at Northwestern University; and Renee Siebert, second flutist for the New York Philharmonic. Mrs. Haymore has held principal flute and piccolo positions in the NC School of the Arts Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Fletcher Opera Institute Orchestra and was principal piccolo for the North Carolina Ballet's performance of Tchaikovsky's, The Nutcracker. She has also performed with the Western Piedmont Symphony and Western Piedmont Chamber Orchestra. From 2005-2007 Sarah was instructor of flute at the North Carolina School of the Arts Community Music School in Winston-Salem. Currently, she teaches flute at the James C. Harper School of Performing Arts in Lenoir, from her home in Hickory, and here at the NewArt School. Sarah is also a Flute Specialist for J.L. Smith & Co. Musical Products in Charlotte, NC.
